Routine Care
All children require routine "wellness" visits on a regular basis. During these visits your child's growth and development are assessed, your concerns are addressed and needed vaccines are administered. These important visits are wonderful opportunities for you and your child to bond with their doctor. Sometimes these visits provide information that alerts the doctor to a problem which is beginning to develop. This way, appropriate treatment can be prescribed before the problem becomes overwhelming. Please make sure to keep your child current on their well child care.
Schedule of Well-Child Care Visits:
  • 3 to 5 days
  • 1 month
  • 2 months
  • 4 months
  • 6 months
  • 9 months
  • 12 months
  • 15 months
  • 18 months
  • 24 months
  • 30 months
  • 3 years
  • 4 years
  • And once every year thereafter for an annual health supervision visit that includes a physical exam as well as a developmental, behavioral, and learning assessment.
We at Oskie Pediatrics have seen first hand the miracle of prevention that routine vaccines provide. No longer must we consider meningitis every time a child has a fever, or worry that a child with cancer might inadvertently be exposed to chicken pox in our waiting room (a deadly disease for children receiving chemotherapy). We can expect children will not be paralyzed by polio (a common occurrence in India not long ago) and boys will not become sterile due to mumps infection. This is just a short list of the benefits of all children getting their routine vaccinations.
We are aware there is much faulty and false information available today regarding the supposed dangers of vaccines. These accusations have been extensively studied and disproved. We strongly believe in the value of routine immunizations and require all our patients to be or agree to become current on their vaccines. Please consult our "Resources" page (under construction) for links to reliable vaccine information.
